Precautions for connecting a USB type LiDAR to PC (Winsows 8, 8.1 or 10)

When using a Windows 10 PC

In Windows 10, when you connect a USB type URG, the driver for the standard USB serial device is automatically installed, so you do not need to download or install the driver for the URG series. If you connect to a PC with the LiDAR turned on, the device manager will display as shown in the figure above.

When using a Windows 8 or 8.1 PC

When using a Windows 8 or 8.1 PC, it is necessary to set to allow the installation before installing the URG USB Driver. The setting method will be explained from the next section.

[Procedure 1] Start screen

On the Start screen, move the mouse pointer to the right end or press the Windows key + C to display the menu again and click the "Settings" icon. For tablets, swipe from the right edge of the screen toward the center.

[Procedure 2] Windows 8 setting screen

Click "Change PC settings" at the bottom of the settings screen.

[Procedure 3] PC setting screen

On the PC settings screen, click "Maintenance and Management" → "Recovery" → "Restart Now".
* The above figure is the screen of Windows 8.1.
For Windows 8, click "General"-> "Restart Now" on the PC settings screen.

[Procedure 4] Option selection

After the reboot is complete, on the option selection screen, click Troubleshoot -> Advanced Options -> Startup Settings.

[Procedure 5] Startup settings

The startup settings will be displayed. Click Restart at the bottom right.

[Procedure 6] Startup settings (selection of options)

When the startup setting screen shown above is displayed, press the F7 key or the number 7 key to start the restart. By performing the above process, the driver will be installed normally. The driver installation procedure is at "Connect a USB type LiDAR to your PC".
