Data output type LiDAR

What is a data output type LiDAR?

Sensor that outputs the distance data measured at each step angle.
It is ideal for environmental recognition of autonomous robots and interactive detection of human hands or feet.

What is a step angle?

The angular resolution of each LiDAR. The data output type LiDAR measures distance at each step angle and outputs the distance data.
For example, UST-10LX and UST-20LX scan within the range of 270 ° with the angular resolution of 0.25 °.
* The sensor scans from the 0th step, (distance measurement range ÷ angular resolution) +1.

How do you get the data?

The data output type LiDAR uses a dedicated communication protocol called SCIP (Sensor Communication Interface Protocol) in order to get the data.
SCIP has the commands for getting distance data, specifying the range, specifying the number of scans, checking the sensor status, checking sensor information, etc., but the commands will differ depending on the model.

How to activate the sensor

Waveform display software URG Benri can be downloaded from the product page of each data output LiDAR.
Object detection can be displayed as a waveform image, and the distance value for each step can be checked in the data table.

Application example

The data output type LiDAR is ideal for the environmental recognition applications and widely used as an eye for autonomous robots.
Recently, experience-based interactive application uses the LiDAR to switch the images using position information.

Application example

LiDAR can detect the position of an object over a wide range, and also recognize the moving direction of the object. It can also be used to detect human movement, track behavior, and count the number of people entering / exiting a building.
In case of outdoor type model, it can also be used for crane container position detection.
