RS-485

What is RS-485?

It is one of the serial interface standards for communicating between devices established by the IEA, and is a higher standard of RS-422.

Signal level

As with RS-422, the transmitting side uses "TxD +" and "TxD-", and the receiving side uses "RxD +" and "RxD-" as a set of two signal lines.

The two signals are always transmitted in an inverted state, and a differential signal is used to distinguish between 0 and 1.

Standard, method

Cable lengh Transmission speed Number of connectable units I/O methods
1200m or less 10Mbps 32 : 32(Max.) Balanced type(differential type)

The difference from RS-422 is that N-to-N multipoint connection is possible.
