What is USB?

USB: Universal Serial Bus


It is one of the serial interface standards for communicating devices with each other.

Connector shape

USB connectors are classified into 6 types.
There are TypeA, TypeB, Mini-A, Mini-B, Micro-A, Micro-B.


Type A and Type B consist of 4 pins, and the others consist of 5 pins.

USB uses a modulation scheme called NRZI that inverts the output when the data changes from 1 to 0.

Differences in specifications depending on the type

In addition to the connector shape, USB is divided into USB1.1, USB2.0, USB3.0, and USB3.1 standards, and the specifications are different.
