EN standard

What is EN standard?

Within the EU, it is necessary to set uniform standards for facilitating mutual trade, which is the purpose of its inauguration. Among them, the standard established by the European Committee for Standardization (CEN) is called "EN standard". This project may be voluntary or mandatory, but EU member states must comply.

Member countries establish individual standards and laws (eg, NF standard (France), DIN standard (Germany), etc.) in order to comply with the above EU agreement, but specific penalties and regulatory methods are individual for each country. It is necessary to be careful in many cases because it is determined in.

There is also what is called the "EU Directive", which refers to something that requires the achievement of the purpose but does not specify the method. (There are other rules, recommendations and decisions at the bottom)

What is CE marking?

The mark attached to a product that meets the standards of all EU member states related to the product (in most cases, equivalent to the EN standard) is called the "CE mark".

Products without CE cannot (basically) be put on the EU market, although they are not certified by any institution or organization and are self-declared by each manufacturer.
In addition, regarding the basis of the CE mark, if requested, each manufacturer must disclose the evidence material within 48 hours.

Certification required to obtain CE marking

Depending on the product, the following items are related to Hokuyo products.

● EMC Directive
It is prohibited to sell products that do not meet EMC (Electro Magnetic Compatibility) requirements.
It requires two conditions: it does not emit harmful electromagnetic waves (EMI: electromagnetic interference) and it does not malfunction due to electromagnetic waves (EMS: electromagnetic immunity).

● Low voltage directive
It targets electrical products driven by AC50 to 100V (DC75 to 1,500V). It requires to comply with the basic requirements.

● Machine Directive
It is intended to supply the market with machines that do not impair human health and safety, and stipulates the necessary safety requirements for that purpose.
